This work seeks to set out in detail the source material which a genealogist or family historian researching in the West of Scotland might use.  The coverage is broad and as well as dealing with the usual Births, Marriages and Deaths etc., Censuses and Testaments or Wills, it also embraces most of the other available genealogical source material right down to the local society or club.  It will therefore be of most use to those seeking to put flesh on their family trees by finding our more about their ancestors and their relatives than just their names.

The area covered is the former Strathclyde Region. This is the City of Glasgow and the old counties of Argyll, Ayr, Bute, Dunbarton, Lanark and Renfrew. The work is split into 8 volumes – A to H.  This volume, Volume F, covers source material for genealogists and family historians researching in the Barony and Regality of Glasgow.  The Barony originally comprised those lands over which the Archbishop of the Diocese of Glasgow held superiority direct from the Crown and those lands over which the Crown reserved certain rights, termed regalities, basically the rural area..  A copy of Volume A, Guide and Index is provided free with this volume.
