I have a Bible printed 1887 and inscribed Maggie S Fiddes Fiddesbeg Foveran Cultercullen in Aberdeenshire. It contains references to the death of John Fiddes 5.11.1891 aged 69 with photo death of James Fiddes on 9.6.1900 aged 48 double marriage of Elizabeth and Rachel Ritchie to James Fiddes Jr and James Thomson on 13.6.1900 in Airdrie death of Elizabeth Fiddes b. Ritchie on 27.11.1901 aged 24 in Airdrie. The two Ritchie girls were the daughters of Thomas Ritchie a colliery manager at Gartness Colliery Airdrie. I believe the Fiddes family came from Aberdeen. I know of no connection between my family grandfather Gavin Muir Aird b. 1897 Tarbolton other than my grandparents lived in Airdrie in the 1920s where my mother was born. There are many pressed flowers mementos personal prayers and notes of or from Bella Alick and Harry this last dated 23.5.1918. I would love to find the connection and to return the Bible to a direct descendant of Maggie S Fiddes. Thank you.

HiI spent over 30 years trying to research my father in law Dominic Michael Stringer. Recent discoveries show that he may have been born Dominic Cunningham Casey in Glasgow in 1922. His parents were John Patrick Casey and Martha Burt. john and Martha had 14 children but only 5 survived to adulthood. I should be interested to hear from anyone whose research might cross mine.

I am looking for descendents of John my paternal grandfather as I have very little info on him as he died 2 years before I was born and my father never spoke of him much. He lived in Spain for a while where he married Alicia Juana Salvadora Apesteguy. My fathers name was James and his sister Dora. If anyone has an Ancestry account they could contact me via that. I have researched back a fair way but am now looking for relatives that are still alive ie great grandchildren or anyone who may have infoRichard Wilson Carrick

My ancestors and my husbands ancestors came to Australia from places all around Scotland. Our families have been researching our Scottish ancestors for decades and with digital resources it is much easier to carry it out remotely. We were able to travel around Scotland in May - June 2019. I am really interested in MacDonalds in Paisley and the Newlands in Glasgow and Bathgate. I really dont know which MacDonald Clans were in Paisley in the early 19th Century - where my MacDonald 3 x great grandmother lived. Id appreciate any suggestions.

All were born in Govan or Cadder and all migrated to New Zealand or Australia. At the time of Elizabeths birth her father was working as a pithead man. Maybe it was the Kelvinside colliery that being the closest to Hillhead at that time - I think. Does anyone know how/if I can confirm this? Are there records of the employees of collieries from that time? I have quite a bit on their lives in New Zealand and Australia if anyone is interested.

I have reason to believe that John Hamilton DOB unknown and Mary Tregelles Hamilton 1790 may be my 3rd ggrandparents. My 2d grandfather Henry is said to have been born in Scotland in 1828 which matches the DOB of John and Marys son Henry. If so they would have migrated from Falkirk to Co Clare Ireland sometime after the birth of their daughter Mary Tregelles Hamilton in 1831 and before 1845 when my 3rd ggrandfather John is known to have lived in the area of Bodyke Clare.

Looking for descendents of John Dick widower of Annie Skae Dick who in 1891 moved from 60 Baker Street Stirling to Glasgow @ 37 Church Place with 4 Catherine John Alexaner & William of his 5 children and married Elizabeth Miller. The 5th child Harriet Jessie and my granmother age 12 was placed in service. In the 1901 Scottish Census Jessie Dick age 23 appears as a domestic servant in Lanark. She emigrated to Vancouver British Columbia sometime before 1910. More recent research suggests that in 1917 John Dick & Son had a construction company in Glasgow. A search for decendants of John senior and Eizabeth Miller and sons William John appear to be useful as Jessie Alexander and possibly Catherine left Scotland. Anyone interested? Suggestions?

I am trying to find out what happened to my great great grandfather William Galletly who was living in Barony parish Glasgow at the time of the 1851 census. He was born in Perth in 1824 married Jane Dalder in St Johns Free Church Barony in 1848 and died sometime between 1851 and 1865 when his wife Jane re-married. However I can find no official record of his death in the Statutory registers after 1855 and I understand that the Barony parish death records for 1836 to 1854 are missing. I am therefore seeking any alternative sources for this information such as gravestone inscriptions. His last known address was at 27 Campbell Street now East Campbell Street. That being the case can anyone tell me which cemetery he would most likely be buried in and whether the gravestones for that cemetery have yet been transcribed? Better still can anyone provide any information regarding the death or burial of the above William Galletly between 1851 and 1865?

He is on the 1841 census in Aberdeen but I want to try and trace him on Islay as he had a son John Ross who I cannot determine was born in Scotland or Ireland.
