Speaker: June Wiggins
Born and brought up in Ayrshire, June Wiggins first became interested in family history after hearing her grandmother talking about her childhood in the 1900s. June’s particular interest is in social history, researching how people in the past lived and worked, rather than just a list of names and dates. She can trace her family roots in south-west Scotland back to the early 1600s. After graduating from Strathclyde University, June lived in the south of England for many years, returning to Scotland in 2013 with her husband. She now works as a freelance genealogist and has had articles published in “Ayrshire Roots” (the journal of the Ayrshire Archaeological & Natural History Society) and in family history journals.
