My grandfather John McCutcheon came to NZ in 1908 on the ship the Everton Grange. His father was James McCutcheon and his mother Bridget Linney or Linnie. Family rumour is that John had three older sisters Hannah Isabella and Nan. However my searches on Scotlands People census records of 1891 show John 11 as the eldest child and only son with sisters named Eliza 8 Rose Ann 6 Maggie 3and Annie 1. The address in the 1891 census is given as 104 King Street. My grandfather John was born at 15 Burr

Hi. Hope someone at this beautiful site can help. Family lore says my gggrandmother Sophia Drummond was from Scotland. But there are problems. Most documents have the family surname as Drummer the tamest of the variants and living in Middlesex England from 1800 to 1900. The only Scottish connection we can find are two possible relatives: S.G. Drummond Glasgow to US in 1891 Alexander Drimmie b. Scotland living with/near Sophies family in US in several censuses. Great site. I thought I was all alone in my research and search for my ancestors What I suggest is that everyone start right now: to journal compile and document all statistics on their own lives so their future offspring will not have to search in vain as we are now.I have records of birth/marriage/death from Scotlands People dot com for seven generations so my son will not have to search when he gets older and suddenly has an interest.Sending Seasons Blessings through the looking-glass.♡ ƙarol

Dear genealogy researchers This is a brick wall for me. My Thompson relatives came to New York about 1850. The patriarch David Thompson was born 1803. Many in our family have assumed he was born in Logie Stirlingshire. However I am unable to discover a birth record via ancestry.com and familysearch.org. David married Agnes maybe 1830 Surname unsure possibly Angus? Their oldest David born 1831 or 1832. They had at least four other children. Robert MargaretIsabellaCatherine. I am very discouraged.
