Research Assistance

(Members Only)

Distant or disabled members may request strictly limited assistance with research. No fee is charged, but we ask for a deposit of £15 against reasonable expenses. These may include postage, photocopying, fees for consulting statutory registers, transport to research centres etc. The deposit of £15 must accompany a request for research before we can start, and this is non-refundable once research has commenced. We do not undertake searches for whole family trees nor for living relatives, and we reserve the right to refuse lengthy or complicated research. Only one request per member is accepted at a time and enquirers must await a reply before sending a new query. Research assistance is subject to the availability of volunteers, and it can now take us nearly three months to get an appointment at the Strathclyde Area Genealogy Centre, so there may be some delay in replying to your request.
